Hot Import Nights Denver
Presented by Wish
The Spring and Summer car show season in Colorado is getting off to a great start with a new addition to the Colorado scene. Saturday (March 31, 2018) brought the addition of Hot Import Nights (HIN), an international show, to the Denver Mart. Based on the crowd that was present when I arrived, well after the initial start time of the event, HIN definitely underestimated the car scene in the region. There were two lines wrapping around either direction of the complex. Luckily I was able to snag press/photo credentials and able to skip the line which some stated took as long as up to two hours to get in the venue.

What wasn't well advertised before the event, nor announced unless you were inside the venue was that the show grounds also extended outside to the drive in lot. I took a gander through the area and grabbed a few shots before heading back inside. Between the outside yard not being advertised or announced and the chilly temp, this seemed to be a detriment for those not not lucky enough to be in inside to get the foot traffic they deserved.
Once inside, besides the average competitions of best in show, best artwork, etc, there was also the DJ Spinoff competition, as well as a model contest to crown the first ever HIN Denver Model. Winners were not listed on the HIN website at the time of publication, and if posted anywhere, I will post a link as well. Throughout the evening there were several performances ranging from a dance crew to several different artists that seem to tour with the event since they all performed together throughout the event.
Overall, the event seemed to be a huge success even though they underestimated the regional car scene, and attendance overwhelmed the Fire Marshall (according to a Facebook post by HIN, they were briefly shut down while they proved the event was not over sold and they had a handle on the crowd), there some growing pains that the event organizers will definitely learn from and produce a well oiled event in the future. What seemed to be missing from this event were local artists that not only knew the the crowd, but could have also hyped the crowd up more in times where it was definitely needed.
